Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Virat Kohli becomes the first player in the Indian Premier League to achieve 6500 runs.
In the 60th match of the ongoing IPL 2022 against Punjab Kings, the former RCB captain achieved this milestone at the Brabourne stadium on Friday.
Kohli hit 20 runs off 14 balls with two boundaries and one six for a strike rate of 142.86 before being dismissed by Kasigo Rabada.
Only Shikhar Dhawan has achieved more than 6000 runs in the IPL, apart from Virat Kohli. With 5876 runs, David Warner, who joined the Delhi Capitals this season, is third on the list, while Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma is fourth with 5829 runs. With 5528 runs, Suresh Raina, the CSK mainstay who remained unsold in this year’s mega auction, is sixth on the list.
Kohli also set a new milestone by becoming the first Indian to achieve 10,500 runs in T20 cricket during this match.
In this edition of the IPL, Virat Kohli has had a bad season. Kohli has only 216 runs at an average of 19.64 before Friday. Kohli hasn’t had a terrible season in the IPL since 2008, when he scored his runs at an average of 15. His lone half-century in the league came against Gujarat Titans at a low strike rate, and RCB lost by 6 wickets.
