IPL 2022: Rinku Singh denied DRS by umpires; controversy erupts on ground

In the 12th over, T Natarajan dismissed Rinku Singh for a lbw and the latter left the field for 5 runs in 6 balls.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ Rinku Singh and Sam Billings were witnessed arguing with the umpires after the former’s DRS review for his wicket was rejected because the umpires thought his 15 seconds of time had passed.

Rinku was late in asking for the DRS, whereas his batting partner Sam Billings indicated for it right away.

Despite the fact that Natarajan’s accurate yorker was spot on, replays revealed the ball was striking the middle and off stump, and a review would have been pointless. Rinku returned after scoring only five runs, leaving Kolkata at 94 for five.

In the 61st match of the IPL 2022 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Saturday, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bat first against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Kolkata need to win this match to keep their playoff hopes alive. They made two changes to their playing XI for this match, replacing Sheldon Jackson and Pat Cummins with Umesh Yadav and Sam Billings.
