IPL 2022: Quinton de Kock plays career-best inning in the league

De Kock and Rahul shared a phenomenal opening partnership that reached the 200s in the last over, making it the highest ever opening partnership in the league’s history.

Quinton de Kock scored a fantastic century for Lucknow Super Giants versus Kolkata Knight Riders in the 66th match of the IPL 2022 on Wednesday. As LSG struck a huge 210/0 in 20 overs, he remained unbeaten for 140 runs in 70 balls, with 10 boundaries and 10 sixes.

The former Proteas captain gained a chance when debutant Abhijeet Tomar missed his catch at third-man when he was 12 runs, but there was no stopping him after that.

With a boundary off Andre Russell in the 18th over, De Kock smashed his second IPL century. In the 19th over, he ruled the death overs for LSG, hitting four sixes, three of which came in a row, against Tim Southee.

KL Rahul, his opening partner and LSG skipper, remained unbeaten on 68* runs in 51 balls, including four sixes and three boundaries. The duo’s partnership of 185 has become the highest-ever by openers in the IPL’s history when they reached it together. That’s also the highest ever wicket stand against KKR.
