Chennai Super Kings‘ pacer named Matheesha Pathirana had his debut for the franchise on Sunday when the team was playing against Gujarat Titans at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. CSK is already out of the playoffs race of IPL 2022 and thus the franchise decided to give some chances to the young talents.
Matheesha Pathirana who joined CSK after Adam Milne ruled out of IPL due to injury has the bowling action similar to legendary Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga. They both has the same arm-position when they bowl a delivery. The fans have now started calling him (Matheesha Pathirana) “Baby Malinga” after they saw him bowling in the game against Gujarat Titans.
In his debut game in IPL he took two crucial wickets and also gave just 24 runs in his spell of 3 overs. However, this two wickets from him didn’t came in a winning way but still it was a decent start for the Sri Lankan pacer in one of the biggest cricketing league (IPL).
