One of the successful franchises of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kolkata Knight Riders added some experienced as well as young players in their squad ahead of IPL-14. The team that won IPL twice but struggling for the past few years will be looking forward to striking back again with the new players in the team.
Experienced players like Shakib-Al-Hasan, Karun Nair, and Harbhajan Singh joined the squad along with young talents like Sheldon Jackson, Pawan Negi, Venkatesh Iyer, and Vaibhav Arora. The franchise spends a total amount of 7.55 crore in the auction to add players to their squad. The franchise believed in just one foreign player and choose to pick more Indian players in the squad.
They purchased players for the price:
- Shakib Al Hasan (Rs 3.2 crore),
- Sheldon Jackson (Rs 20 lakh),
- Pawan Negi (Rs 50 lakh),
- Venkatesh Iyer (Rs 20 lakh),
- Ben Cutting (Rs 75 lakh),
- Harbhajan Singh (Rs 2 crore),
- Karun Nair (Rs 50 lakh),
- Vaibhav Arora (Rs 20 lakh).
Kolkata Knight Riders will be looking forward to utilizing these players and the youngster will be looking forward to learning from the experienced players who will be in the squad. KKR already retained most of their key players for the IPL 2021 and the franchise will be led by England’s skipper Eoin Morgan. KKR Retained Players — Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik, Nitish Rana, Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Rahul Tripathi, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Kuldeep Yadav, Lockie Ferguson, Pat Cummins, Prasidh Krishna, Sandeep Warrier, Shivam Mavi, Varun Chakravarthy, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Tim Seifert.
Harbhajan Singh who earlier played for Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings joined the Knighthood and will add more strength to the spin unit along with Kuldeep Yadav and Sunil Narine.
