Former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram has demanded current Pakistan white ball captain Babar Azam to be a consistent performer for his side as a captain and emulate performances of Team India and RCB captain Virat Kohli.
These comments from Wasim Akram came after a disappointing performance from Pakistan which saw them lose the 3rd ODI against Zimbabwe in a super-over as the match was tied after 50 overs. Pakistan had already won the 3 match series and were leading 2-0 after winning the first couple of matches. Babar Azam scored a wonderful century in the game but failed to take his side home at the end. Akram feels that Babar Azam has immense talent and should admire and emulate the consistency of Virat Kohli as a captain. “Babar Azam needs to be consistent like Virat Kohli. I wouldn’t like to make any comparison. But I only say Babar is an exceptional talent but Babar Azam needs to be consistent and match winner like Virat Kohli.”
Akram also went on to say that he hopes Babar takes this comparison positively and develops the required skills and put extra effort to become a match winner like Kohli, “I would be very happy if he[Babar Azam] can see the comparison positively and becomes consistent in his performance like Virat Kohli.”
