IPL 2020: Delhi Capitals replace injured Jason Roy with Daniel Sams from Australia

Australian fast-bowler Daniel Sams looks set to replace Jason Roy in Delhi Capitals for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).Earlier today, Jason Roy was ruled out of England’s upcoming T20I series against Pakistan owing to a side strain. This injury has also ruled him out of the IPL season.

Sams is currently part of the Australian squad in England and will be joining the IPL franchise after the series. However, it is highly likely that Sams might miss out on the beginning 2-3 games of this season owing to his International duties.

This will be Daniel Sam’s first ever appearance in the IPL and the player from South Western Sydney looks to be a smart buy from the Delhi franchise. With the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant and captain Shreyas Iyer already a part of the high profile Delhi batting lineup, the introduction of Ajinkya Rahane has further strengthened this exciting group at the top of the Delhi batting order. Having the top end of the team sorted out, the addition of the leading wicket-taker of the 2019-20 Big Bash League from Australia has ensured that Delhi are one of the teams to look out for come the business end of the tournament.
