In a concerning moment during Match 35 of IPL 2025 between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans, all-rounder Axar Patel appeared to twist his left ankle while running between the wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The incident occurred in the 16th over when Axar pulled a short delivery from Arshad Khan towards deep square leg and attempted a quick single. Midway through the run, Axar suddenly slowed down and collapsed in visible pain, clutching his left ankle.
What followed was a touching gesture of sportsmanship — GT pacer Mohammed Siraj immediately rushed to check on Axar, even before the physio could arrive. Siraj signaled urgently for medical assistance as the physio and support staff entered the field with towels and cold compress.
Axar remained seated on the ground as he received treatment. After a few minutes, he stood up and chose to continue batting, showing resilience despite discomfort. However, with Delhi Capitals relying on his all-round contributions, questions remain on whether he’ll be able to bowl in the second innings.
