Delhi Capitals pacer Ishant Sharma was forced off the field due to heat-related dehydration during Match 35 of IPL 2025 between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After bowling just two overs for 14 runs, Ishant had to exit the field, visibly fatigued under the intense heat.
The 36-year-old returned to the sidelines later and reportedly requested head coach Ashish Nehra to let him bowl another over. However, the team management opted to go with Mohammed Siraj instead, who was brought into the attack and immediately delivered, breaking the set partnership by dismissing Tristan Stubbs.
Siraj bowled a well-disguised slower delivery that tempted Stubbs into a reverse scoop. The ball didn’t come off the bat cleanly and was easily caught by Prasidh Krishna at short third man. Stubbs departed after a valuable knock of 31 off 21 balls, including 2 fours and a six.
Despite briefly returning to the field, Ishant continues to look uncomfortable, showing clear signs of fatigue. His fitness is now a concern for the remainder of the game, with two overs still left in his quota.
Ishant Sharma, a seasoned campaigner, has played 105 Tests, 80 ODIs, and 14 T20Is for India, claiming 311 Test wickets, 115 ODI wickets, and 8 T20I wickets. In First-Class cricket, he has an impressive tally of 486 wickets from 154 matches.
