Andre Russel is a Jamaican cricket player who represents West Indies in international cricket. He is an explosive batsman and pretty good with the ball as well. He represents Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.
1.Andre Russel has only played a single test match in his entire career
Even though Russel is an enigmatic player he has only played one test match in his whole career. He scored just 2 runs with the bat and took only 1 wicket that was of Tillakaratne Dilshan. He is a fantastic white-ball cricketer but it looks like Test cricket is not his thing and he might not be seen playing one in the near future.
2. He is the first T20 bowler to take 4 wickets in 4 balls
Andre Russel is one of the most famous T20 cricketer now known to the world. Whereas when he began his career he was not as famous. Last two years have been exceptional with the bat but it was not the same before that. He came in as a fast bowler and became one of the tops back then. In a match against India A, he took 4 consecutive wickets and became the first bowler to do so.
3. He is one of the 2 players who has taken a Hatrick and hit a ton in the same T20 match
While the T20 format of the game is the smallest, Russel has a major achievement which does not make it feel so. In the 2018 CPL season, he scored a ton and took a Patrick in the same match. He won the match for his side and also set a record. Apart from him, Joe Denly is the only player who has achieved this feat.
4. Andre Russel is a professional recording artist.
Apart from being a professional cricketer, Russel is also a professional recording artist. Just like CSK’s Dwayne Bravo who termed himself as DJ Bravo, Russel also coined his name as Dre Russ. Although to focus better on the game he stopped recording. He has recorded two songs namely “Sweat Whine” and “Sweet Heart” in 2014-15.
5. Andre Russel was dismissed for a duck in his debut T20 match
It may seem like a surprise of Russel walked back for a duck today but the cricketer’s first T20 inning began with a duck. In his debut against Pakistan in 2011, he did not score with the bat. With the ball, he conceded 28 runs without picking up a single wicket.
