On Saturday, April 8, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the 12th match of the Indian Premier League 2023 will pit Mumbai Indians (MI) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In their opening contest, Mumbai was humiliated by the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Surya Kumar Yadav, who is currently struggling, will be the centre of attention for MI’s home game against SKY tonight. With an advantage of the home game, SKY might make a dramatic comeback.
The cricketer said that everything seemed very meaningful to him upon rejoining the Mumbai Indians, especially at the Wankhede Stadium. He also discussed how he felt about moving to Mumbai and that he made a commitment to himself to put in more effort and play regularly for the fans.
“When I returned to Mumbai Indians in 2018, it felt like a homecoming where everybody greets you. I got that same feeling. The first time I came to the ground, it was a very different feeling. Obviously, when you come to any stadium you feel great. You imagine playing at the stadium, the feeling you get when you make runs and play shots at the stadium is a very different feeling,” Suryakumar said while talking to Mumbai Indians.
At the 2018 IPL auction, Mumbai Indians selected Suryakumar Yadav after he had two outstanding seasons with Kolkata Knight Riders. The neighbourhood kid has now had a significant impact and assisted Mumbai in capturing two more championships. The 32-year-old, who is presently ranked as the top T20I hitter in the world, was also given the opportunity to play for the national side thanks to the same.
“When the stadium was made, I was a regular here. I played domestic matches, age-group matches and then came the IPL. I was (sic) MI from 2011 to 2013. In 2018, I was reunited with the franchise after a short break. After entering the stadium, I felt really special again and I thought I will have to work very hard if I have to play consistently in front of this amazing crowd at this beautiful stadium. I’ll have to put in quality efforts and I have been working hard since then and have never looked back,” the top-order batter added.
