CSK CEO reveals, why Suresh Raina was not picked in IPL mega auction

Suresh Raina has played for CSK since 2008 barring two years, 2016 and 2017 when the franchise was suspended on counts of spot-fixing and betting.

Former Indian cricketer, Suresh Raina had gone unsold at the IPL Auction 2022 on February 12 and 13. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanath said that it was difficult for the team to leave out Suresh Raina.

“Raina has been one of the most consistent performers of CSK for the last 12 years. Of course, it was very difficult for us, not to have Raina but at the same time, you should also understand that the team composition depends on the form and the kind of team which any team would like to have, so that’s one of the reasons why we thought he may not fit into this team,” said Kaisi in CSK’s youtube channel video.

He has played for CSK since 2008 barring two years, 2016 and 2017 when the franchise was suspended on counts of spot-fixing and betting. In 2018, he came back to CSK and played an important role in the team’s IPL winning campaign.

Kaisi also said that the team will miss the presence of former South African captain, Faf Du Plessis in the team. Faf has served for CSK since 2011 and played a crucial role in the team’s previous year IPL triumph in the finals. Faf was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 7 crores at the IPL Auction 2022.
