Bhuvneshwar Kumar achieves unique record in IPL; Andre Russel spoils the show

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has bowled 1600 dot balls in IPL history, leaving behind the likes of R Ashwin, Sunil Narine and Harbhajan Singh with a huge margin.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, one of the legendary Indian bowlers to make the dancer clueless from his swing, control and seam, has once again proved his mettle. The bowler is playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad under Pat Cummins. During the match against Kolkata Knight Riders, Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled his 1600th dot ball in the IPL history. The bowler has played more thaan 160 matches in IPL to claim 170 wickets. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is 17 wickets away from surpassing Yuzvendra Chahal to become bowler with most wickets in IPL history.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the first player for Sunrisers Hyderabad to play for consecutive ten years. Bhuvneshwar Kumar had initially been with RCB but couldn’t play a single game for consecutive two years. Later,, he was signed by Pune Warriors, followed bagging a deal by Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014. He quickly rose to ranks for his death bowling skill and obtaining swing. In his first four seasons with Sunrisers Hyderabad, he took upwards of 18 wickets in each season, winning purple catch consecutively. One of his instrumental performances helped SRH win an IPL title in 2016. Irrespective of his form, the bowler remains a lynchpin of their team setup.

The bowler left KKR clueless in his initial two overs giving away just 7 runs. However, much changed when Andre Russel joined Rinku Singh to change the paradigm of the game. Bhuvneshwar Kumar couldn’t do much but just bowl and hope for Andre Russel to miss out. In the next two overs, Bhuvneshwar Kumar leaked 44 runs. The twitter was flooded with reactions on Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s achievement but a section of fans also trolled the bowler  for seeming entirely out of control in second half of his four overs spell.
