Alex Carey credits Ricky Ponting for technical lessons during IPL

Australian wicket keeper batsmen Alex Carey feels that working under Ponting during the IPL helped him to improve his technique while batting. Both of them were a part of the DC dugout.

Carey is the wicket keeper for the Australian side in One day Internationals. He was also in the T20 side for England and South African tour, but was dropped for performing poorly. His T20 stats are also not impressive as he has played 30 matches, out which he has batted in 18 innings scoring 176 runs in total with strike rate of  116.56 and averaging 12.57 in the shortest format of the game.
He was picked by the Delhi Capitals in the auction where he was coached by fellow Australian Ricky Ponting. Under Ponting, Carey felt that he improved his batting technique and is confident of having a great summer of cricket.
Alex Carey is originally a top order batsman but due availability of Warner and Finch in the opening slot, Carey plays as middle order batsman. He plays a swinging role in the Aussie side as he sometimes is given the job of a finisher and sometimes to control the innings from one end. He says that he is more than happy to play any role that team gives him.
He agrees that his past records in T20  have allowed Mathew Wade to come in his place which is only fair according to him. He eyes to make his place in the T20 side as soon as possible because the T20 World Cup is just a year away and he feels that the sooner the team finds perfect combination, the more are the chances of the team to win the Cup. He says that he wants to be part of that team and is confident about making it there.
He says that they are playing against quality sides like England and India which show the level of their side in cricket.
