Former Australia skipper Aaron Finch has dismissed a report suggesting that Virat Kohli might not be a part of the team in the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024.
Finch rejected the rumour saying, “That is the biggest rubbish I’ve ever heard” while highlighting Kohli’s indispensable role in the team.
There are varied opinions on Kohli’s strike rate now, and Finch his own while calling Kohli the greatest white ball player to have ever played. “Even if he is going at 140 and the others are going at 160, you still need a guy like Kohli,” he said, “Just look at the match situations he has won for India single-handedly. The debate should end there.”
Discerningly, Finch also hit out about the doubts that have been raised about his place in the Indian team recently, despite an amazing show in the IPL 2024. His 77 from 49 against Punjab Kings was vengeance of a sort. The doubt shouldn’t arise, too, though. Like Finch, several cricket lovers have also rated Kohli. A player of his standing should ideally play world events. Finch’s assertion further cements how well Kohli is rated.
