In the ongoing Test match between India and Bangladesh, debutant and opening batsman of hosts Zakir Hasan managed to score an incredible century. Zakir becomes the fourth Bangladeshi batsman to score a Test century on debut. Aminul Islam, Mohammad Ashraful and Abul Hasan are the other three Bangladeshi batsmen who scored a century on Test format.
The 24-year-old received a surprise from Rahul Dravid, the head coach of India and a legendary batsman, who did so just as the debutant was about to address the press conference and congratulated him for his heroic effort in the opening Test.
“Sir (Rahul) greeted me. He said I batted well. It is inspirational for such a great player and coach coming to congratulate me. It is a great feeling,” said Zakir. “I feel good scoring a hundred. I didn’t have much expectations and all I wanted was to bat long since we are facing two days and a big total.
On the final day of the first Test match against India, Bangladesh needs 241 runs to win. However, given that they have lost six wickets, it seems difficult.
