Team Sri Lanka won the toss for the first ODI and opted to bowl first as the skipper Shanaka explains his reason for the choice taken –
Dasun Shanaka: We are going to bowl first, because of the dew at night. It was a good boost, the way we played in the T20Is. Dilshan Madushanka is making his debut today.
Indian openers – Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill have stepped out, hoping a long running partnership. Shubman Gill seems to have already geared up as he continues to play at a strike rate above 170.
Shubman while facing debutant Madushanka in the fourth over, smashed a hattrick of boundaries sensing the T20I feeling with Guwahati crowd cheering for the young lad.
