IND vs NZ 1st ODI: Captain Rohit Sharma breaks MS Dhoni’s elite record

Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma breaks a record set by former Indian captain MS Dhoni in the ongoing tour against New Zealand. The previous record (before the start of 1st ODI) for the most sixes hit in India by an Indian player in One Day Internationals (ODI) was equaled by Rohit Sharma by hitting 3 sixes during his 42-run knock in the 3rd ODI against Sri Lanka.

With 2 quick sixes while opening in the 1st ODI against New Zealand, Rohit Sharma has surpassed former skipper MS Dhoni to be the cricketer with most sixes in ODI format in India.

Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are off to a good start. In the ODI in Hyderabad, Team India captain Rohit Sharma chose to bat after winning the toss. The hosts have substituted Shradul Thakur in place of Umran Malik. The inclusions of Hardik Pandya, Surya Kumar Yadav, and Ishan Kishan in the playing XI today were to be expected. Ishan and SKY will both bat in the middle order with Pandya. Washington Sundar was the other addition to the Indian XI since Axar Patel was already rested for the series.
