IND vs ENG: Root’s ton guides England to 250+ score on Day 1

England skipper Joe Root continues to play attacking Test cricket against India at Chepauk. Root scored his 20th ton and 3rd consecutive ton against India on day 1. England ended the day with a three-wicket loss and 263-run onboard. Dom Sibley played an astonishing inning of 87 runs. Sibley loses his wicket just before the stumps of Day 1 as Bumrah strikes back by a leg-stump ball that got hit on his bat.

Joe Root is in a good rhythm from the start of the year 2021 as he scored a double hundred and a 180+ score against Sri Lanka. He is currently playing at 128-runs in 197 balls, and will easily cross 150+ on day 2 if Indian bowlers won’t strike back.

For India, Bumrah picked two crucial wickets, he sent back Dominic Sibley who was looking in good touch, and Daniel Lawrence who went back to the pavilion without adding any run for the team. Ravichandra Ashwin also picked the wicket of England’s opener Rory Burns who played an inning of 33 and gave his team a good start.

The first inning of Day 1 ends at 263-3 in 89.3 overs and it seems England has an upper hand in the crucial Test match because of their skipper.
