India again displayed the strength to the visitors on day 3 by dominating the day with bat and bowl both. The significant innings from Ravi Ashwin and skipper Virat Kohli already provided the hosts’ grip in the match. The hosts put up a target of 482 runs against the visitors to chase in their second inning.
The day started with a blow for the Indian team when they lost 5 wickets in the first session of the day but the partnership between Ashwin and Kohli helped the team to get back the rhythm. India scored 286 runs in the second inning with the brilliant ton of Ashwin. Ashwin took a fifer and then played a knock 106-runs for the team.
England started their second inning in the last inning of the day. But India did not p[provide them any time to get settled in the pitch of Chennai. Axar Patel strikes for the hosts in the final session of the day and sent two of the players to the pavilion.
England just scored 53 runs and lost their three top batsmen in the final session of the day. the only good thing for the visitors is that the skipper Joe Root is still at the crease and can show some courage on Tuesday. Ashwin also took a wicket and sent back the opener of England. Rory Burns gets a good start and was looking to get settled but the bowling trap from Ashwin did not let him maintain his mindset.
Daniel Lawrence and Joe Root are at the crease and will play on Tuesday for the visitors, India still has a lead of 429-runs and it almost confirmed that the hosts are going to win the match on the 4th Day of the match.
