The second Test match between India and England was almost in the grip o the host from Day 1. The beautiful 161 from Rohit Sharma in the first inning and then a ton from Ashwin in the second made India stand strong from the very start. India won the match by a huge margin of 317-runs. With this, India levelled the series by 1-1. India lost the first match against the visitors by 227-runs but they came back strong and win the second match of the series by a huge margin.
Axar Patel, who made his debut in the second Test in Chennai became the 10th India to take a fifer in his debut. Axar dismissed in-form Joe Root in both the innings and made it smooth for the team to win the match. The margin of runs is the 5th highest winning margin for India in Tests.
However, Moeen Ali shows some guts at the very end of the inning when he starts hitting big sixers against the Indian spinners. He scored 43-runs in just 18 balls with 5 sixes and 3 boundaries. Indian skipper and vice-captain also scored half-centuries in the math. Rahane scored 67-runs in the first inning while Kohli scored 62-runs in the second.
the match witnessed a lot of records for Indian players like 4th 150+ score from, Rohit, 5-wickets haul and a century from Ashwin, and the first fifer for Axar Patel. Indian batsman and bowlers seem much relaxed on the pitch in Chennai where visitors struggle to score even a half-century.
Not a single England batsmen scored 50+ score in any of the innings in the second match. The highest scorer for visitors was Moeen Ali who played an attacking cricket at the end. Ashwin took 8 wickets in total in the match. Also, Kuldeep Yadav who was struggling for so long to get a single wicket dismissed Moeen Ali and Ben Foakes.
