On 9th February 2022, defending champion India will host Australia in the 1st test game of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The game will be played in Nagpur ( Maharashtra ). India and Australia last played against each other for this trophy from 27th November 2020 – 19th January 2021. At that time, India successfully defended the title by winning the 4 – match series 2-1. Since India and Australia played against each other for Border Gavaskar Trophy for the first time in 1996-1997, India has won the test series ten times. On the other hand, the Australian side has won it the most, i.e., 12 times.
An injury crisis struck the Indian and Australian teams at the start of the Test Series. The decision-makers for both teams were troubled by this. The Indian team hasn’t started with Shreyas Iyer since, among other injuries. Since January 17th, Iyer has been excluded from the starting 11. Iyer will miss the first 11 games because of a back injury, the BCCI said in a statement on January 17. The organisation also said that Iyer would be joining the National Cricket Academy ( NCA ).
Since India will miss out on Shreyas Iyer, it is now understood that Suryakumar Yadav will replace Iyer, as per multiple reports. So how much experience does Suryakumar Yadav have regarding the red ball? Regarding first-class cricket, the top-order batsman scored 5549 runs with a batting average of 44.75. He has 14 centuries and 50 half-centuries in his name.
