IND vs AUS: Shreyas Iyer yet to recover; doubtful for Nagpur Test

Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer is doubtful for the Nagpur Test. The Indian team will have to use Iyer’s position in the batting unit with caution, as every game is crucial for the World Test Championship.

Indian batter Shreyas Iyer was ruled out of the New Zealand series due to a back injury and immediately reported to the NCA for rehabilitation work in order to be fit for the Australia Tests. While those monitoring Iyer’s fitness have yet to rule him out of the Nagpur game, he is expected to stay at the NCA in Bengaluru and work on his rehab programme in order to be ready for the second Test in Delhi, which begins on February 17.

While the return of Jadeja is a clear boost to India’s chances in Nagpur, the hosts will begin the marquee series without their in-form middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer.
