IND v SA 4th T20I: South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma retired hurt; to miss the series?

India scored 169/6 in 20 overs in the fourth T20I in Rajkot, with Dinesh Karthik hitting 55 off 27 deliveries for his maiden T20I fifty.


During the second innings of the fourth T20I match on Friday, South Africa’s skipper Temba Bavuma was injured while facing Bhuvaneshwar Kumar’s delivery and retired hurt. Bavuma stepped off the field with eight runs off eleven deliveries when the physio approached the field to examine upon him.

Bavuma was shocked by the bouncing of Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s back-of-length shot, which struck his shoulder and bounced onto the helmet’s grill. Bhuvneshwar came out to Bavuma and checked on him right away, sensing the severity of the impact.

Although the South African physio was there in the middle checking the captain, he gotten back. However, after just a few deliveries, the physio was back in the middle as Bavuma suffered of severe shoulder pain after plunging at the non-striker’s end. striker’s Bevuma has been unable to grasp the bat and walked off the field, with Dwaine Pretorius taking his spot in the middle.

However there is no confirmation about whether he’d miss the series or the severity of his injury.
