In his 15th T20I game, 7 years after making his India debut in T20s, Indian batsman Sanju Samson hit his first fifty at the international level in the game’s shortest format. Samson scored 77 from 42 balls, his innings was finally ended in the 17th over by Mark Adair.
In just 31 balls during the second T20I game against Ireland at The Village in Dublin, Samson achieved his first fifty. Samson had a 160 strike rate with 1 six and 8 boundaries.
Sanju Samson who made his debut in 2015, has struggled to replicate his IPL success at the international level. Samson managed to score only 174 runs at an average of 14.50 before this game in 14 T20Is. In the run-up to the T20 World Cup, Sanju, who is back in the mix, is in a try making situation as the race for wicketkeeper and top-order positions is heating up.
Right before the toss, Hardik Pandya predicted favourable conditions for batting. As India aims to test its bench strength, Sanju Samson took the position of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Harshal Patel took the place of Avesh Khan, and Ravi Bishnoi was added in lieu of Yuzvendra Chahal. The visitors, who are at 1-0 in the two-match series, would like to sweep the series.
