
India made a strong start to the limited-over action by defeating England by a huge margin of 50 runs in the opening match of the three-match T20 International series. Later, India was in dominance as they thrashed England by 49 runs to win the second T20I of the three-match series 2-0 on Saturday at Edgbaston in Birmingham. England was knocked out for 121 in 17 overs while chasing a 171-run total, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar collecting three wickets for India.
India has now defeated England in four straight T20I series after this.
India’s 2-1 home victory in the 2016–17 series marked the beginning of the streak. After that, India won their first-ever T20I series in the country with a historic 2-1 victory against England during the 2018 tour. India won the five-match series 3-2 at home the previous year. They now have the chance to defeat England 3-0.
In men’s T20I cricket, India also surpassed Sri Lanka’s record for the most consecutive series victories over England. From 2008 to 2014, Sri Lanka had three victories.
