As the leading Indian with the most T20I runs in the first four innings, Deepak Hooda surpasses KL Rahul‘s record. Hooda has scored 205 T20I runs so far including his 33 runs off 17 balls featuring 3 boundaries and 2 sixes during the ongoing first of the three T20I matches against England at Southampton on Thursday.
With scores of 21(16), 47*(29), and 104(57) against Ireland and 33(17), Hooda reached 205 runs in T20 Internationals.
During the first T20I match on Thursday, before attacking England all-rounder Moeen Ali, Hooda just waited with one delivery. In the fifth over, Hooda raced down the track and smacked Ali for a six over long-on on the first delivery. A gutsy Hooda ended up smashing two straight sixes to get things started at The Rose Bowl on Thursday. He wasn’t scared to take a chance on the subsequent delivery either.
As India scored 66/2 during the powerplay, Hooda blasted up to three fours against England pacer Reece Topley in the following over. Hooda didn’t let India lose because of the loss of opening batters Rohit Sharma (24) and Ishan Kishan (8), by using a well-timed flick and punishing Topley for bowling short and wide.
Every chance that has provided itself, Hooda has taken full advantage of. Hooda put on a fantastic performance on Thursday, following off quite a solid performance in the IPL 2022 and the T20I series against Ireland. In fact, Hooda is the only fourth Indian batsman to score a century in a T20I tournament.
