A game full of intensity and passion by team Afghanistan made the team deserve a win in the low-scoring game against Sri Lanka.
Afghanistan failed to bat in the Super League Quarter Finals and scored just 134 runs, allowing Sri Lanka to come down and try to chase the easy target.
Team Afghanistan turned the table and did not let the match go off easily from their hands. Afghanistan wiped out the Sri Lankan boys before they could chase the small score. Sri Lanka was wrapped in 130 runs in 46 overs.
Noor Ahmad with its outstanding all-rounder performance was honored by the Man of the Match award and helped the team to play against England in the Super League Semi-Finals. Noor scored 30 runs off 34 balls and bowled his 10 overs with an economy of 2.00, which helped him to bag one wicket and Noor also managed to bowl two maiden overs.
The Under-19 match witnessed four run-outs of team Sri Lanka which made the team struggle to chase the target of 135 runs. Afghanistan bowlers took 6 wickets while the rest of the wickets were given by the Sri Lankan batsman for poor judgment in running between the wickets. Bilal Sami managed to take 2 wickets in the game.
The score of 130 by the Sri Lankan boys also included 34 runs which were considered as “extra” and 32 of them were “wide” balls. Sri Lanka might be very disappointed by the poor performance which luckily helped Afghanistan to go ahead in the tournament. Vinuja Ranpul’s five-wicket haul for team Sri Lanka goes in vain as the young bowler with a positive command managed to wipe out Afghanistan within the score of 134 runs. Captain Wellalage performed individually as he stood with 34 runs but he too was not able to get a win for Sri Lanka.
Afghanistan will now face England in the Super League Semi-Finals. Pakistan will face Australia next in the upcoming Quarter-Finals game of this Under-19 tournament.
