Ravichandran Ashwin of India has risen to the top of the latest MRF Tyres ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings, ending James Anderson’s reign at the top.

After taking six wickets in India’s emphatic victory over Australia in the second Test, Ashwin takes the top spot among bowlers, with Anderson dropping to second after England’s stunning loss to New Zealand in the Wellington Test.

The 36-year-old Ashwin first claimed the No. 1 Test bowler ranking in 2015, and he has returned to the top spot on several occasions since then.

In India’s win in Dehli, Ashwin took two big wickets, dismissing Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith in the same over of the first innings before returning to dismiss Alex Carey for a duck.

Anderson, England’s 40-year-old pacer, had risen to the top of the bowling rankings following his brilliant performance in the first Test against New Zealand in Mount Maunganui, but has since dropped seven rating points to 859, moving him into second place.
