Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has lent his support to Indian batting stalwart Rohit Sharma, assuring fans that Sharma’s recent underwhelming performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) won’t hamper his contributions in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Despite concerns raised by fans over Sharma’s form, Ganguly remains optimistic about the captain’s ability to shine on the global stage.
In a recent statement reported by SportsKeeda, Ganguly expressed confidence in Sharma’s capabilities, highlighting his track record in major tournaments. “India is a very good team. Rohit will play well in the tournament. He plays well in big tournaments,” Ganguly said as reported by SportsKeeda.
Sharma, who used to lead the Mumbai Indians franchise in the IPL, faced a string of poor performances in the tournament ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 set to begin on 1st June.
