Hanuma Vihari, the Indian cricketer, is set to join Madhya Pradesh for the 2023-24 domestic season as part of his efforts to revive his international career.
Vihari, who has played 16 Tests for India, will need a No-objection certificate from his previous employers, the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA), before finalizing the move. He will strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s middle order, which already boasts strong players like Rajat Patidar and Venkatesh Iyer.
Vihari, currently leading the South Zone team in the Duleep Trophy, may also be considered for the captaincy. The talented batsman has been out of India’s Test squad since July 2022.
In his first-class career, Vihari has impressive numbers, averaging 53.41 in 113 matches with 8,600 runs, including 23 centuries. Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) is also eyeing left-arm fast bowler Kulwant Khejroliya, who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.
