Glenn Maxwell aims to make a Test return during ICC WTC cycle

Australian limited-overs specialist Glenn Maxwell remains optimistic about a Test cricket comeback and sees the upcoming away series on the subcontinent at the conclusion of the current ICC World Test Championship cycle as his prime opportunity to do so.

Maxwell, who has participated in just seven Tests, all played outside Australia, hasn’t featured in red-ball cricket for over six years. Despite excelling in white-ball cricket and playing pivotal roles in Australia’s T20 World Cup victory in Dubai in 2021 and the successful Cricket World Cup campaign in India, Maxwell harbors a desire to contribute at the Test level.

Acknowledging his proficiency in limited-overs formats, the 35-year-old cricketer believes he can make a significant impact in Test cricket. Maxwell is committed to putting his name forward for selection as Australia approaches the final series of the ongoing World Test Championship cycle. His aspiration to return to Test cricket underscores his determination to showcase his all-around skills in the longer format of the game.
