Eoin Morgan ruled out of the remaining West Indies series

Moeen Ali to lead England in Morgan’s absence.

England’s white-ball captain Eoin Morgan won’t be playing the last two matches of England’s T20 series against West Indies in Barbados, as he is ruled out from a low-grade quadriceps injury.

Throughout the series, Morgan doesn’t look in good form, making 17 runs from 29 balls in the first and 13 from 12 in the second game. Before the third game, Morgan felt pain in his right quad during the pre-match warm-up and was rested for the match with Moeen Ali taking the team’s command in the 3rd match.
An ECB statement stated: “Follow-up testing revealed he sustained a right thigh muscle injury which, while relatively minor, will prevent him from playing further games during the current tour.”
West Indies is leading the series with 2-1; Windies won the first match comfortably by nine wickets. England fought back to win the second with just one win, and Rovman Powell stormed Windies to victory in the third.

Before the start of the series, Morgan, in an interview, mentioned that the motive of the whole tour is to develop the team for the next World Cup rather than win the series. England is currently ranked No.1 in the World T20 ranking and is looking to expand its options before the upcoming T20 World Cup.

On Wednesday, with Morgan resting, debutant Harry Brook was given a chance. Harry Salt and George Garten also played their maiden T20 in place of Sam Billings and Saqib Mahmood, who were a bit expensive in the last match. Morgan stated that the remaining series would give many opportunities to the young talents. The new players will get a chance to learn a lot through the process. This will help England cricket to make better future plans and a stronger squad.

Moeen Ali will be leading England in the remaining two matches to be held on Saturday and Sunday. Winning both the matches would be crucial for England as they are already 2-1 down.
