England announces T20 World Cup squad as Jason Roy dropped

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has named a 15-person squad for the T20 World Cup, which will be held in Australia in October-November. England’s great opener Jason Roy has been left out. Jos Buttler will lead the English team in the international competition after Eoin Morgan’s resignation as the limited-overs captain. Mark Wood and Chris Woakes, who had been recovering from their individual ailments and had last competed for England in March of this year, are also members of the squad.

Jason Roy isn’t included in the 15-man group because to England’s preference for Phil Salt, who made his T20I debut earlier this year, and after a terrible run for his country’s side and in The Hundred, Roy was neglected. Since the last edition of the T20 World Cup in 2021 in the UAE, Roy has appeared in 11 T20Is, hitting 206 runs at 18.72.
