ENG vs WI 2022 – Hosts humiliate visitors with 9 wickets victory

Jason Holder 4 for 7, destroyed England in the opening game of the series.

ENG vs WI 2022 – England’s coming losing streak continues even in the first match against West Indies. Earlier in the Ashes series, Australia defeated England 4-0 badly.

Nothing good has happened for England in the last year except for select performances. England’s troubles have not diminished even under Morgan’s captaincy. Morgan has captained Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, due to which the team reached the final of 2021 but missed out on winning the trophy.

However, the franchise has not retained him given his poor batting line-up before the next season. West Indies won the toss and invited England to bat but it seemed as if England landed in the match without any plan. Batting first, England could score only 103 runs. At one point, England had lost 7 wickets for 49 runs but the lower order batsmen showed strength and took the team’s score beyond 100 runs.

West Indies used 7 bowlers and only a few proved to be the most successful and effective. Jason Holder took 4 wickets for 7 runs which included the maiden over.

Sheldon Cuttrell took 2 wickets in his 4 over spell and Hossain proved economical, taking 1 wicket for just 16 runs in his 4 overs spell.

Coming to bat, West Indies achieved the target with 9 wickets remaining. The opening pair put on 52 runs for the first wicket and lost the only wicket in Hope. Brandon King played an innings of 52 runs which included 4 fours and 1 six.
