Mitchell Starc has done it again. The Australian left-arm quick, famous for his deadly first overs in Test cricket, struck with just his sixth delivery of the Gabba Test, removing Ben Duckett for a duck.
Starc bowled a full, angled delivery that drew Duckett into a push, only for the ball to fly straight to Marnus Labuschagne at fourth slip. England were rocked early at 5/1, continuing Duckett’s struggles against Starc — a repeat of the opening-Test pattern where Zak Crawley fell twice to the pacer in the first over.
With three slips and a gully waiting for the mistake, Australia’s plan worked instantly, giving them the perfect start under pink-ball conditions at the Gabba.
