Dinesh Karthik inferred that he received a lot of mishandling in form of abuses in the past few days and how all the applause he got for his effort as “weatherman” during the India and England World Test Championship final turned into an insult.
Dinesh Karthik, during the WTC final of India and England in Southampton, performed as a commentator and sported another hat as a weatherman. The weather had been always one of the main topics during the championship with Day 1 which was faded away without the toss due to rainfall. Everyone looked for Day 2 and the weather specifically since then.
This was the moment that gave Karthik the idea of becoming the “weatherman” and he decided to update fans with Southampton’s weather on Twitter by waking up early at 6 in the morning.

He uploaded images of the Ageas Bowl that suggested the situations looked like. Karthik received a lot of praises for his efforts in providing weather updates but the compliments soon turned into insults in a matter of days.

“Weatherman” is a very double-edged sword; I’ll put it on record. On the first day, a lot of praises, the second day, very happy, the third day they started abusing me. I wanted to sleep; I can’t wake every day at 6 am to provide a weather report,” told Karthik to sports presenter Gaurav Kapoor in his podcast ’22 Yarns with Gaurav Kapur’.
“They took it too seriously on social media. They started abusing me saying, ‘Wake up! What the hell are you doing?’ in the words that I cannot use on the podcast,” he added.
He also said that there were thousands of abuses and not just one or two. “Thousands saying ‘Wake up, wake the hell up, not just one or two that I would have let go,” Dinesh Karthik revealed.
