Depression takes life of Mumbai cricketer Karan Tiwari; commits suicide at Malad home

Karan Tiwari, a Mumbai club cricketer was found dead at his Malad residence on Monday night. The reason to the suicide seems his depressed state as he was unlikely to break into any of the eight IPL teams.

The 27-years old cricketer was struggling to get a place in the senior team. The pause in play due to the pandemic seems troublesome for many such cricketers like Karan, with many players contemplating their future.

As per TOI, he lived with his mother and brother. Police said Tiwary called a friend in Rajasthan and told him he was upset about not being selected to play and was planning to end his life. The friend told his sister, who also lives in Rajasthan. She told their mother, but it was too late. Tiwary had gone to his room after dinner and locked the door around 10.30 pm. By the time it was broken down, he was no more.

An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered by the police. “We have registered an ADR and investigations are on,” Babasaheb Salunkhe, Senior Police Inspector Kurar police, informed the media. As per a report in mid-day, he was known as ‘junior Dale Steyn’ in local cricket for his physique and similar bowling action to the South African.
