David Warner to make a helicopter entry at the SCG Sydney

In a dramatic turn of events, David Warner is set to make a grand entrance at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) by helicopter, flying in from his brother’s wedding to play for Sydney Thunder against Sydney Sixers on Friday.

Originally planning to utilize Allianz Stadium adjacent to the cricket ground, the option was ruled out, redirecting Warner’s arrival to the SCG outfield, close to where the iconic “Thanks Dave” logo was painted during his farewell Test.

Weather permitting, Warner is scheduled to touch down around 5 pm for what anticipates being a sellout fixture. After attending the wedding in the Hunter Valley, he plans a swift exit to reach Cessnock airport.

Having inked a lucrative two-year deal with Thunder ahead of the last season, Warner’s return next season is on the cards, balancing appearances with his commentary commitments during the India Test series.

Despite looming retirement after the T20 World Cup in June, Warner is expected to make a comeback for the T20I series against West Indies following his stint in the India Test series.
