Dasun Shanaka, the team’s regular captain, will serve as the team’s leader, with Charith Asalanka serving as his deputy. At the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai, Sri Lanka will play Afghanistan in their opening match of the Asia Cup. Due to injuries incurred during the SLC Invitational T20 League 2022, the original squad members Binura Fernando and Kasun Rajitha will not be travelling. The injured team’s recommended replacements are Asitha Fernando and Pramod Madushan.

Dilshan Madushanka, a left-arm seamer who is 21 years old and uncapped, has earned a spot in the team. Ashen Bandara, who last competed for Sri Lanka in a T20I match against India in July 2021, is another notable addition to the team.
