
Sri Lanka’s tour of West Indies came to a standstill after SL head coach Mickey Arthur and batsman Lahiru Thirimanne tested positive for Covid-19. The series was scheduled to start on February 20 and it might get rescheduled following the development as said by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
“Following PCR Tests carried out on the Provisional Squad, which was preparing to take part in the National Team’s upcoming tour of West Indies, Head Coach Mickey Arthur and Sri Lanka Player Lahiru Thirimanne have tested Positive for CVOID-19,” the SLC said in a statement.
The PCR Tests were carried out for the 36-member provisional squad including the net bowlers. After the results came out, the two were shown positive for the coronavirus.
“Hi guys got the news that I’m positive for covid 19. I have got zero symptoms and I still don’t know where I infected the virus. But I have been informed authorities’ necessary details to prevent it going to others. Stay safe people,” Thirimanne tweeted. He will follow the government’s guidelines regarding the isolation.

The tour included two Tests, three One Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals.
