BCCI names VVS Laxman interim Head Coach for Asia Cup 2022

In order to participate in the Asia Cup, VVS Laxman has joined the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team in Dubai. An ex-Indian batsman who coached his country during the recently finished three-match ODI series in Zimbabwe has returned to Dubai from Harare. The remainder of the team, who participated in the Zimbabwe series but was not sent to represent India at the Asia Cup, has returned to India.

Until Rahul Dravid passes his Covid tests and departs for the UAE, Laxman will serve as the interim head coach of the Indian team for the competition from August 27 to September 11.

In its media release on Tuesday, the BCCI merely stated that “Mr. Dravid is under the supervision of the BCCI Medical team and has mild symptoms. He will join the team once he returns with a negative COVID-19 report.”
