“We have got an approval in principle to go ahead as the paper work would be completing anytime soon”, said a Source.
With recent upcoming events in the saga of the IPL being shifted to UAE amid the Covid crisis and also a drawback in form of VIVO backing away from Title sponsorship this news comes as a positive one as the BCCI have indicated they have received the approval in principle and will be moving ahead with the preparations to make the tournament a success away from home.
The Franchise have started arranging COVID-19 Tests for their players before they leave the country for UAE. “Its always good to have a PCR test done and land with a negative report. Then they can have two tests done 24 hrs apart from the mentioned BCCI SOP before we fly for UAE”. said the Franchise official.
The players and the staff have been allowed to take their families with them along with the condition they remain inside of the Bio Bubble but the players are not too keen due to strict Quarantine rules and regulations. The Team Franchise have started to book for accommodation and options like resorts and hotel bookings are being looked upon. The team strength is restricted to 24 but no cap has been put on the support and staff.
A couple of franchise are going with a contingent of 60 along with their medical team of their own to keep a tab on health and testing which is conducted to be every 5 days. Guidelines are in place by BCCI with a senior official stating that ” The testing is to been done every 5th day, if the franchise want they can ramp up the rate, As we have said earlier an upgradeon SOP is welcomed. However the chances of the quarantine period getting reduced is less which is (6 days mandatory).”
