Bangladesh’s ODI captain, Tamim Iqbal, has returned home after receiving back treatment in England, including multiple injections for a damaged disc that ruled him out of a Test against Afghanistan.
Although Tamim expressed readiness to play despite not being fully fit, his candid admission led to brief retirement before Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina intervened to convince him otherwise. The injections are expected to provide relief for the next few months, but uncertainty surrounds his availability for the upcoming Asia Cup due to the recurring nature of the injury.
The team management eagerly awaits his recovery as Tamim is slated to lead the side in the tournament, subject to his fitness. Meanwhile, a fitness camp has begun for the preliminary squad members with medical tests and the Yo-Yo fitness test scheduled ahead of the skill camp on August 8.
