Bangladesh appoints Ashwell Prince as their new full-time batting coach

Bangladesh Cricket has decided to give a full time batting coach job to former South African batsman Ashwell Prince.

Bangladesh appointed Ashwell Prince of South Africa as their new batting consultant until the 2022 T20 World Cup. Bangladesh Cricket Board was impressed by the former South African batsman and thus, gave him this role. Bangladesh is expecting that Ashwell will try to improve their batting style and will improve their batting so that the team can perform well in the T20 World Cup.

The decision of making Ashwell Prince a full-time batting coach was made by the Bangladesh Cricket Board after the Zimbabwe series. He was with the Bangladesh cricket team during the series against Zimbabwe in July. After Bangladesh made a clean sweep in the ODI’s against Zimbabwe with some amazing performance from the bat as well as from the bowl, the board thought that Ashwell Prince is the right man to do this job. In the series against Zimbabwe, Bangladesh won 3-0 in the ODI’s and won 2-1 in the T20I’s. Thus, this dominating show from Bangladesh convinced the Bangladesh Cricket Board to appoint him as a full-time batting consultant.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with the Bangladesh national team during what was obviously a very successful tour for the team in Zimbabwe, The level of cricket played by both Bangladesh and Zimbabwe was of a really high standard,” Prince said in an interview to AFP.

The 44-year Old South African was also a great batsman of his time. The left-handed middle-order batsman was also once being named captain of South Africa in the series against Sri Lanka in 2006. Thus, the players are hoping to do well with him just like they did in the Zimbabwe and Australia Series. However, Ashwell Prince was not with the team when Bangladesh won 4-1 against Australia in the T20I series at home.
