Indian women’s team was set to take on the Australian women’s team in January 2021 in a 3-match ODI series in Australia which has now been postponed due to the pandemic.
The tour was earlier confirmed but the pandemic hit the globe around March this year which halted every sport including cricket. Many tours were cancelled in the wake of increasing cases around the world. Women’s cricket has been hugely affected due to the pandemic as almost no cricket match has been played by them after the pandemic. The cricketing action has begun in the world as slowly the cases are coming down.
The sudden rise of cases in Sydney proved to be a major scare for the Australian officials and accordingly on Thursday they announced that the women’s tour has been postponed to next season.
The Australian officials have said that they were expecting the tour to happen but the circumstances have forced them to take this step. They also have added in their official statement that they will be looking to have an extended tour as they are discussing to add T20’s as well for the tour next season.
