AUS vs IND: Pucovski failed the fitness test, Marcus Harris is all set to replace him for Brisbane Test

After the unfortunate injury of the Australian player Pucovski on the final day of the Sydney Test, Marcus Harris has been called in his replacement. Pucovski failed the fitness test on Thursday (January 14), as his scan confirmed the injury of the dislocated shoulder. Australian skipper Tim Paine confirmed his ruling out and Harris called in, who will open for Australia with David Warner. With this Australia will have two specialist openers for the first time in the series. This will be the third opening in four tests for Australia.

Harris has not played test cricket since Ashes 2019 where he was called the midway in the series where he scored 58 runs in 6 innings. “Harry’s no-fuss very good player. He is been working his backside off for a while now, he did well in Sheffield Shield cricket and deserves this opportunity.” captain Paine said.

Harris was not part of the first-hand Test squad but was called for the first two Tests because of the injury of Pucovski and David Warner. With Joe Burns dropped after the Boxing Day Test, he was retained for the rest of the matches.  Harris played 9 Tests till now and scored 385 runs with an average of 24.06 in 17 innings, he also scored two fifties on the crucial time for his team. The left-handed batsman debuted against India in Adelaide Oval, 2018.
