Speaking to Sports Today, Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar gave his thoughts on Ajinkya Rahane as a captain and also praised the way the 32 year old approaches the game. Rahane is set to take over from Virat Kohli as captain since the current Indian captain will be on paternal leave after the 1st Test in Adelaide.
“This is going to be slightly different. Having interacted with Ajinkya Rahane, I know he has a very smart brain and he is balanced. He is aggressive but it’s controlled aggression,” said Tendulkar
Tendulkar praised Rahane’s approach to the game, saying “Whatever time I have spent with him, I know he is a hard-working player, he takes nothing for granted, and if you’re working hard, if you’re sincere and honest in your preparation, the result will invariably follow.”
Rahane became India’s 33rd Test Captain on March 25, 2017 when he led the team in the 4th test against Australia in Dharamsala due to an injury to Virat Kohli. The first Test of the Border-Gavaskar trophy on December 17 will be a day and night test, set to be played with a pink ball.
