AUS vs IND: David Warner gives his take on the opening slot battle for the test series

Australia’s strike opener David Warner has given his opinion on the ongoing battle for the opening slot at the test side for the team between Joe Burns and Will Pucovski.

The Southpaw says that he is comfortable with anyone as long as the team benifits from it. But if he is asked before taking the call for it, he said that him and Burns have played together for more than a year. They compliment each other well and know what the other guy is going to do in a certain situation. Burns has done well for the Australian team in the past. David Warner went on to say that he is unable to understand why is Burns being criticised so much. He has added that Burns played a brilliant knock against Pakistan last year. He added that they have great chemistry and do well when they have played together averaging almost 60.

But he went on to say that his competitor Will Pucovski has been in a phenomenal form. Will has done exceptionally well in the Sheffield shield matches that he has been part of, where he averages a astonishing 247 having scored 2 double tons in the tournament.

Warner feels that Will is a long time player for Australia and will definitely dominate the opening slot for the team. He says that both the players have done well and deserve to be in the team, but that’s the way this game works only one of them can play at the opening slot.

Ricky Ponting has suggested that Will Pucovski can play as a middle order batsman for Australia ahead of Chris Green. The test series will start from 17th December, the first test will be a day/night test and to be played at Adelaide.
