The much-awaited announcement of India’s squad for the upcoming Asia Cup has taken place, revealing a mix of promising talent and established cricketers. The selection meeting, headed by chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar, saw the presence of captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid. While the core focus was on the Asia Cup, there’s speculation about the potential naming of a 15-member provisional squad for the World Cup.

In the initial unveiling of the squad, notable inclusions were confirmed. Tilak Varma secured his place, while Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul also found themselves on the list. Prasidh joins established fast bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Mohammed Shami. There was a debate on Gill’s inclusion but Agarkar made sure to go with the promising talent.

The spin department, on the other hand, witnessed the omission of Ravichandran Ashwin. Ravindra Jadeja’s all-round prowess assured his place. Kuldeep Yadav made a swift comeback but Chahal remains excluded for the major tournament.
